Emotional support animals (ESAs) are pets that provide comfort, companionship, and therapeutic benefits to individuals with emotional or psychological conditions. ESAs are prescribed by mental health professionals, such as therapists or psychiatrists, to help people manage the symptoms of mental health disorders. Unlike service animals these animals do not have the same federal legal protections secured by the American with Disabilities Act. Nevertheless, in many jurisdictions, there are some protections awarded to prescribed Emotional Support Animals. Either way, many people benefit from owning or working with an Emotional Support Animal.

Ethical Considerations
Ethical Considerations

Owners of emotional support animals are responsible for the care and behavior of their animals. They must ensure that their emotional support animal is well-behaved and does not pose a threat to others. Additionally, emotional support animals are not granted the same public access rights as service animals and are subject to restrictions in most public places. In fact, it is important to consider that the presence of animals which are not trained for disability service in certain public settings may disrupt or distract service dogs from their important work, harming people with disabilities that rely on such dogs to navigate their lives.

As a business that also trains service dogs, My Life Unleashed can help protect you from Emotional Support Animal online scams and teach your to protect and advocate for the rights of people with disabilities who rely on service dogs while benefiting from your emotional support animal.
